Nik Software

One of my New Year’s resolutions has been to work on my image processing skills, something that can still use a lot of improvement. Last year I took advantage of a discount to purchase the Nik Software Complete Edition. At first I was quite reluctant. I have been using Lightroom for most of my work and was wondering if I really need another software program. But I had heard quite a bit of good news about Nik, especially the Silver Efex Pro, that I finally decided to give it a try. At that time a free upgrade to HDR Efex was also available and I already posted my experience with it here. Lately I have been taking some of the free webinars Nik is offering and started working on some of my images again. All I can say is that I am absolutely kicking myself for not using their software earlier. I still have quite a bit to learn, but it is easy to use and just some small adjustments with Viveza 2 made quite a difference in my images. The U-point technology is great and saves a lot of time and headaches. The only downside is, that I am now sifting through my images again to see what I can do with them in Nik 🙂
So, in case you were pondering whether or not you should get it, all I can say is that I highly recommend it. They will also be releasing a new version of Nik Silver Efex Pro in February and from what I have seen in the webinar it looks great. I will certainly upgrade to it.
Thanks for the info Beate.
It’s nice to see an honest critique w/o a lot of selling.
And you have a similar problem as I: post processing difficult to work with images. Ugh.
Thanks Beate
